Ab exercises at home

March 29, 2010

Everyone wants awesome abs and particularly as summer is on its way, we want to be ready to hit the beach in our short shorts and teeny bikinis. Gym can be expensive and I feel unnecessary as many exercises can be done at home without the need for specialist equipment.

As well as the classic sit-ups, one of my favourite abs exercises is the ‘plank’; this is where you get into the press-up position and lower yourself onto your elbows and hold this position for as long as you can, making sure your back is straight and stomach is held in tightly. This is a very effective exercise if done regularly. Do this for a few minutes a day and you’ll have a flat stomach in no time!

Since news broke of Bulger’s killer, Venables being put back in prison, there is a current debate on whether it is possible that we could be born evil.

Although many agree that our characters are borne from factors including environmental surroundings i.e. upbringing and role models; personality which is down to genetics and whether the child suffered abuse or had been hurt in a similar way in which they commit their crime.

Another possible factor could be down to having the opportunity to be ‘evil’, in the case of the murder of two year old James bulger. Either way, the important question is can evil people be rehabilitated?

Having taken over the Radio 2 morning slot that Terry Wogan was famously known for, for only six weeks, it seems that Chris Evans is already feeling the stress and is now taking a week off. I feel people have been too quick to judge and he’s not really been given much of a chance yet.

It must be difficult to take over from such a prestigious position held by one of our country’s national treasure for so many years, it’s understandable that people will compare. Bookies are even taking bets on Evans leaving the show by the end of the year, however Wogan himself has backed Evans urging listeners to give him a chance to settle in.

The Chinese have been drinking green tea for more than 4000 years and claims of its benefits to health and well-being are in abundance.

Trials have found that certain chemicals in green tea shut down a particular molecule that plays a major role in the development of cancer. Statistics also show that there is a much lower rate of cancer in China and Japan than their Western counterparts.

Whether this claim is true or not, green tea is well known for its anti-oxidant properties which helps to fight free radicals in the body, and thus the popularity of this beverage has increased throughout the years as people are becoming more health conscious.

I’ve been waiting so long! It’s been almost three weeks since I ordered my new laptop and I should get it tomorrow, the last day of the expected delivery date, how typical! Is it me or do laptops just not have that long a lifespan; the battery dies on you, the monitor starts flickering etc, considering the amount of money that could be spent on one before you have to get a replacement?

If you’re like me and want to prolong the life of your laptop a little more then make sure that you keep your laptop clean. This means making sure you store it away when not in use and keeping the fan and air vents are not blocked. This in turn will keep your laptop cool which is another lifespan extender as it will keep your laptop running at its optimum and not overheating.

Also, when you have your laptop plugged in, if possible try and use a surge suppressor as this will protect your laptop from any spikes in electricity which will seriously damage your laptop.

Keep these in mind and your laptop will have a much longer, happier life!
